Strategy
Hill Top Village Store is a small business located within the Southern Highlands the relies solely on brick and mortar sales. The store serves as a post office, newsagent, liquor store and general knickknacks and homewares from local markers and surrounding businesses. With a small population of only 2,000 people, the store needed to grow it’s audience to surrounding villages to see increased revenue, especially with the rebuilding of a historic railway line coming to the area.
Challenges
Sonnya Davis the owner of the Hill Top Village Store contacted RJE marketing and expressed that she was needing additional assistance to mange the social media accounts for the store. While trying to work in the store itself and also actively help in the community, Sonnya has found little time to do the day-to-day social posts or engage with those who contact the store through the social pages.
The store also expressed that they were finding it difficult to share some of the seasonal products and local liquor sales.
Solution.
A project manager was assigned to the store and an initial consultation was conducted for the business. We were able to work with the Village Store to identify key areas they wanted to boost sales, and we looks at some offline ways we could measure success of campaigns.
We agreed that paid and organic social media posts were the way to move forward to help increase brand awareness and indirectly increase sales. This includes more personalised posts, seasonal posts and pushing key objectives to surrounding areas to gain neighbouring customers. RJE was in charge of content creation including both imagery and text.
Impact.
As the Hill Top Village Store is a traditional bricks and mortar store, measuring the sales results isn’t as straight forward as ecommerce. However, we have seen an increase in liquor sales since we started the campaigns and an increase in homewares of the festive seasons. Teacher gifts, liquor and locally sourced gifts were some of the more popular items sold, directly linked in the social posts.
A “drink of the week” is often selected and this has been a good way of measuring weekly sales, as less common liquors are sold and customers then ask for the featured product.
